Ultimately, her notable outbursts of violence in the movie exemplify Salander’s desire to secure her own survival in the face of overwhelming odds. With her staunch personality and intelligence, she broke free from the victim role of the corrupt social system and became the victor.

In this sequence, the spikes are a representation of Salander’s staunch personality, the white cloth and red rope both represent the suffocation that Salander has suffered from the society. As the sequence progresses, we can see the figure breaking out of the white cloth and red rope, which signifies the breakthrough and growth of Salander.
